the art of finding an excuse not to do something

the art of finding an excuse not to do something 🥱

there is a funny word for "the intentional delay of activities that we are aware we should carry out."

"procrastination."

usually, we let ourselves be carried away by the flow of events. at other times, we try to swim against the current because we feel like we are being dragged down the wrong river. sometimes, i feel like we just need to take a break, take a few steps back, and see what's in front of us.

people, especially in the information-driven culture we live in, tend to be extremists. they are either the ones who never stop, always climbing and never resting, working 100 hours a week, or they are the ones who do virtually nothing beyond what is explicitly and absolutely necessary for survival, and that is their life.

"balance" tends to be something absurd (as balancing things often implies doing less of what you want to do). i think what we lack as a society is not having more balance or promoting it, but having our own criteria. i am a naturally obsessive person; i love researching, learning things, experimenting, and immersing myself in information. however, in reality, i carry out few things.

and that's okay.

because i set the pace i want, i do what i want, howi want it, and that's what works for me.
